  2.  Born 1885. German-Jewish doctor, musician, and conductor who directed the Berlin Opera in the late Weimar period 
  3.  A founder of the Cultural Association ("Kulturbund"), he directed the Association's musical activity until 1938. Emigrated from Germany in 1938 but was captured by the Nazis in the Netherlands in 1940 and deported to Theresienstadt, where he died in 1944.
